pescadero beach lovin'

I Heart Ronson top, vintage belt, American Apparel skirt, Mossimo flats, Forever 21 cuff, Ray-Ban sunnies

As you can tell, I wasn't exactly dressed for the beach. However, Pilot and I started off our day just driving around, and voilá, somehow we ended up driving along Route 1 (which is kind of how we always start our adventures... forever impulsive and never knowing where we're going, which is the best kind of adventuring, in my humble opinion) and stumbling upon Pescadero Beach. I've never been here before and it was beyond gorgeous: the clear, crystal water, the dark mossy rocks, and clean sand, as well as the numerous windsurfers (so cool to watch!) taking full advantage of the breezy weather. Admittedly, it was quite chilly, but that's Northern California for you! The rest of the day followed with more driving, stopping off at a strawberry farm for the best strawberry shortcake we've ever had, and then... Santa Cruz?! Oh, we're silly kids.

Since I knew that we were going to go out, I wanted an outfit that was fun and casual, yet girly, which as I've realized, is kind of my thing. This AA skirt is something I reach for all the time, as it's sweetly flared skater style is a classic, and I just heart this I Heart Ronson top's awesomely bold print. And of course, simple almond toed flats for maximum walkability, although those swiftly came off as soon as my feet hit the sand.

I hope you're all having a great rest of the week! Can you believe that it's Thursday?! I can really get used to these shorter weeks, to be honest. x

heavy metal lover

Vintage lace top and bangles, Alexander McQueen for Target shorts, Michael Kors t-strap sandals, H&M bracelet, rings & earrings

The overall theme of this outfit were silver and gray colors, so I paired this pretty vintage lace top with something a little more grungy—gray denim cut-offs with silver studs. And even though I like to keep my metals (gold and silver, respectively), separate, I couldn't resist adding my bronze cage sandals for a little bit of extra bling. Additionally, I love lace tops because they're so versatile; they add a definite flair of delicate femininity to almost any outfit and can be dressed up or down (the latter in this case.)

Also, Bay Area fashion lovers! I'd like to direct your attention to another Kearny Street Workshop event (the same people that sponsored that Dumpling Wars event a few posts ago): KSW Runway. From the website:
Kearny Street Workshop announces its fourth annual fashion show, KSW Runway, scheduled for August 11, 2012, at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center.
This August, KSW Runway returns to give Bay Area fashion mavens a peek at the best of emerging Asian Pacific American fashion designers. Be among the first to view exceptional collections by up-and-coming APA designers, purchase garments hot off the runway during the live auction, and celebrate how strong Asian American influence is in the fashion industry!
With the success of designers like Phillip Lim and Alexander Wang, and the recent launch of Jason Wu at Target, the influence of Asian Americans on the fashion industry is more powerful than ever!
KSW currently seeks the next crop of fashion designers to be featured at KSW Runway 2012. Deadline to apply is June 4, 2012. For how to apply, please visit http://kearnystreet.org/2012/04/ksw-runway-2012-call/.
Hope to see you guys there—or better yet, your guys' entry into the show! Is everyone having a great weekend so far? x

insta:sab

In lieu of actual outfit posts (ugh, sadly, the photographer has been insanely busy as of late), here's a peek into my Instagram account! This Twitter meets smartphone photo thing is quite addictive, to say the least.

If you have an account, you can follow my snapshot shenanigans at sabbyagogo (which is also my Twitter handle)!

  1. Awesome jungle-themed pants at Zara—perfect for this particular prevailing trend of printed trousers.
  2. New set of Crown brushes and Crown brush cleaner, yay for Hautelook deals!
  3. Trying on a new shade of burgundy lipstick.
  4. Chinese Laundry Gloris boots in black. More than a little in love with how they make me feel like a badass rockstar whenever I strut around in them.
  5. Pilot + delicious Korean food = ♥
  6. My absurdly enormous all-white cat, Toby. He's become particular famous amongst my Facebook friends whenever I post pictures of him (which are a lot, because I'm pretty much an unabashed cat lady).
  7. Matching nails and jewelry are a harmonious match made in heaven.
  8. Wavy hair kind of day.
  9. My number one favorites—Urban Decay's Ink for Eyes gel liner in Zero and NARS' duo blush/bronzer in Orgasm/Laguna.
  10. Sometimes I like to put my cat in big handbags appropriate for his huge size.
  11. Stacking them gold jewelry!
  12. Hilarious beanies are sometimes the best type of headwear.

Hope you guys enjoyed your week and have happy, happy Friday! xo

and let the sun wrap its arms around me

Anchor Blue top, Forever 21 denim shorts and cuff, H&M bracelet and ring, ASOS earrings, vintage belt, Fioni sandals

Warm weather? In my city by the bay? I know I mention weather a bit in my posts, but honestly, that whole seasonal mood thing is quite true. This weekend was pure bliss, consisting of dodging tipsy Cinco de Mayo revelers, shopping and gourmand-ing around the Marina area, catching the Avengers film (amazing, Joss Whedon, you're just cementing my love for you), and pure relaxation. Apparently this warming trend is continuing well into this week—which would be kind of unbearable watching through the office window.

Does anyone remember Anchor Blue before it closed down? The quintessential mall store that attracted mostly middle and high schoolers, this store had some surprisingly sweet basics. This ultra-girly top was tucked into a pair of denim shorts and a vintage belt, with these sandals for some extra spice. These strappy sandals are not only crazy lovely with its criss-cross design and too cute ribbon bows in the back, but are surprisingly comfortable as well. I had a full day's worth of meandering about and no pain. Or perhaps that's because I've grown practically invulnerable to heels, as I'm constantly wearing them, which probably explains my polite puzzlement whenever someone exclaims to me, "How can you walk in those!"

Hope you're all having a good start of the week! x

anything but basic

H&M jacket, Guess tank dress, Rock & Republic heels

A lot of the times, I dont't really concentrate too much on picking outfits. Most of the things I wear are on the spot, hastily thrown on because I usually have to run out the door. This ensemble exemplifies this. A simple white tank dress, with my favorite oversized, army-inspired jacket and some beyond gorgeous leopard heels, keeps it interesting.

These heels with its inarguable funky femininity and the jacket for an overt casualness gives it a balance that's just perfect: a blending of edgy and soft, something I find my unconsciously doing in my outfits from time to time. This was definitely unintended, but looking back on these pictures, the hint of my lacy black bra gives it a little something else. And on another note, there's nothing wrong with randomly stopping in front of someone's house, no matter how lovely it is, to take outfit pictures, right? Haha.

the ferrari challenge at infineon raceway

Forever 21 top, cuff & ring, H&M suede shorts, sunnies, bracelets & earrings, vintage shoes

Although I'm definitely not a car person (except I'm totally in love with my little Mazda Miata, I must snap a pic to show you guys some time), I tagged along with Pilot and his friend to the Ferrari Challenge at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma on Sunday. There's something kind of awe-inspiring about seeing all those sleek, expensive Italian cars, something that makes your jaw go slack and eyes widen when you see them gleaming in the sun and hearing them roar as they zoom to seemingly supersonic speeds on the track. It seems that my endless love of vintage doesn't quite stop at clothing and jewelry—I shamelessly begged Pilot to steal a gorgeous cherry vintage two-seater (the one in the first picture).

I paired this floral strapless top with high waisted suede shorts. Something a little fun, vaguely 1950s, and of course, these racing-style sunglasses for the occasion, as well as my usual bangles and jewelry. These shoes were snagged from my mom; someone told me that they looked like French boating shoes and I like quite like that description. It didn't occur me to bring sunscreen, something I would definitely come to regret. Though the day wasn't that hot, the sun was shining down and even though I'm kind of infamous for claiming that I never burn... well, as it turned out, I had to eat my words at the sunburn on my upper back.

All in all, though cars aren't more cup of tea, it was fun to do something different for the car-loving boyfriend. Fun tidbit of the day: I managed to finagle Pilot and his friend a mangled Ferrari race car bumper (I may or may not have been put up to flirt and pout my way for it but that's neither here nor there). Why anyone would want a smashed race car bumper is beyond me, but they were oohing and ahhing at the dented carbon fiber piece as I would ogle a pair of Prada sandals.
