take a walk

Abercrombie & Fitch denim jacket, H&M shirt & tights, American Apparel skirt, Aldo shoes, ASOS earrings, vintage necklace & belt

And now for an example of one of my better work outfits! Yet another reason why I envy my fashion industry friends—an infinitely freer dress code. Although I must admit that I feel a bit lucky that my office isn't too terribly strict on the usual business casual attire (I've noticed that it's more of the latter). A formal button-down (H&M is just phenomenal in providing petite fitted professional wear, in my opinion) paired with a black skirt flared enough to give a bit of a fun flirty feel. Because the skirt was slightly too short (I really regret putting it in the dryer), I balanced that out with opaque black tights.

The shoes are oldies but goodies. A friend once called them my "witch shoes" which kind of baffled me. Well, if witches really wore these adorable lace up, almond toed heels, then those are some stylin' witches indeed. A denim jacket thrown over it to give it an instantly casual look and silver accessories completed the look. All in all, perfect for a day at a more casually inclined office but informal enough for an after work stroll around the park. On another note, it's almost the weekend! Hope you all have awesome plans for it!

lark on my go-kart

Forever 21 tank, cuff, & faux leather skirt, H&M rings & bracelet, vintage hat & necklace, Silence & Noise bralette, Coach belt, Steve Madden platform sandals

This was a look that was vastly boyfriend-approved (usually he gives me not-so-subtle doubtful glances and a "...really?" at some of my outfits). A leather mini with silver details struck me as more than little punk rock, so I paired it accordingly and cheekily with a dark denim bralette, but with some semblance of modesty with a loose gray tank layered over it. Lots of silver jewelry, from an utterly adorable vintage cat necklace to multiple rings were required, with black platform sandals and a hat set at a rakish angle atop my head rounded it all off.

Have a wonderful start of the week, everybody!

playtime at the fairgrounds

Forever 21 top & bag, Topshop shorts, Aldo necklace & sandals

Hanging out at the local county fair deserved simple clothing that can render me mobile enough to romp around in, so that called for faux leather shorts and my new favorite sheer white top—basics with a slight funky twist. I really like these sandals in particular; the brown criss-cross design with the gold hardware is just too pretty.

As it was the first day of summer yesterday, we decided to head over for the first day of the Alameda County Fair. It was Pilot's first time at a fair (such a city boy)—a real fair, complete with ferris wheels, slightly sleazy people yelling to play their rigged games for a chance to win an outrageously huge stuffed animal, and deep fried everything. I haven't been to one since I was a child and I was still in awe of the bright lights and loud noises. Not to mention the too-horrible-and-artery-clogging-yet-delicious fair food!

We arrived just at the golden hour, in time to snap some pics, not a second before twilight. Note the hilariously non-PC and misspelled "Oreint Express" ride, a snapshot that Pilot felt compelled to take for a laugh. And I'm not quite sure how I've managed twenty two years without a wonderfully trashy deep fried something (in this case, a Snickers bar). It tasted of crispy sweetness and the first step to a heart attack, but I'm pretty sure that I regret nothing. All in all, a really fun night!

when the sun goes down we'll go out again

Forever 21 top & cuff, Silence & Noise skirt, Aldo necklace, H&M bracelet, ASOS earrings, Michael Kors cage sandals

For the day, I decided upon a breezy and playful yet pretty look. I really love this skirt; its way too much fun with its colorful pixel-esque square print and the slightly asymmetrical hem. To prevent this look from being too busy, I opted to tuck in a loose sheer white top, my new favorite alternatives to the classic white tee (which is something I've worn with this awesome skirt before). Bling came in the form of my favorite faux gold cuff and thin chain bracelet (it's almost embarrassing how much I wear them, but oh well, they're my favorites), the coolest hoop earrings I've ever encountered, and a rose-gold necklace turned collar, and bronze T-strap cage sandals. Et voilĂ ! An outfit that is unapologetic in all its girly glory, fit for romping around downtown.

Hope you all have a lovely Monday and a great rest of the week! x

one thing

Zara jacket, Forever 21 top & earrings, Topshop faux leather shorts, Cary Lane necklace, Aldo heels

This jacket is so magnificent in so many ways that despite much bewailing about the lack of proper summer weather in San Francisco, I very nearly regret that it's too warm to wear this out and about during the day. The contrasting leather and khaki green sleeves were something that I had hesitated about, but it was that exact edgy chic dichotomy that convinced me to snap it up. It's very reminiscent of Phillip Lim's two-toned leather jacket (here), but moreover of Rag & Bone's varsity version (here and seen on Liv Tyler here) and Alexander Wang's biker flight one (here).

I paired this darling with some patent platform heels (for a feminine balance) and faux leather shorts. Nothing wrong with leather on leather, right? Accessories were minimal; just a gorgeous triangle bronze necklace over a slouchy top and gold and neon pink earrings for a subtle yet fun pop of color. I can foresee myself giving this jacket much wear—black leather moto and safari army green are awesome and versatile enough on their own, but combined? Love it.

little toy tracks

Costa Blanca top, Forever 21 shorts, ASOS earrings, H&M bracelet & ring, Steve Madden platform sandals

This top is so unbelievably gorgeous—an awesome tan taupe color that ensues that it can be paired with almost any other color of the rainbow. There's also the beyond darling leather lining detailing on the bust and the pockets (such a sucker for pockets, I had stashed my phone in those for a good period of the day). And did you notice the criss-cross straps on the back? I adore it when a piece has unexpected but eye-catching details on them! Paired with a simple pair of black shorts and a pair of awesome taupe platform sandals and gold jewelry, it was an outfit that seamlessly transitioned between day and night—too perfect.
