apprends-moi

Forever 21 top & earrings, Desert Nights necklace, Zara trousers, Rag & Bone ankle boots

This weekend was a whirlwind of driving! A much-needed little vacation to Monterey was in order, and these were quickly taken on the drive back from Monterey to San Francisco. If I'm going to be driving and/or in the car for awhile (approximately three hours each way, in this case) as well as adventuring (strolling through the famous aquarium, three hours on an increasingly chilly and rocky boat searching for whales, and lots of general meandering), then I need to be comfortable, with some jewelry with a bit of extra spice. A breezy white tank (one of the softest I've ever owned), trousers that have the consistency and feel of combined pants and leggings, and my much, much beloved beyond words Rag & Bone Harrow ankle boots. Don't let the chunky heel fool you—these babies are seriously comfy (also I'm not quite sure why these haven't been featured on le blog before, as I've practically been wearing them nonstop since they've arrived at my doorstep last month).

Maybe I'll post some of the photos from this weekend later! We stayed at an auntie's beach cottage, which was just in front of an absolutely breathtaking coast. I know this is a fashion diary, but I'd also like a place (other than Facebook) to place some beloved snapshot memories of my travels.

H&M jacket & ring, Express men's dress shirt, Aldo collar necklace, Forever 21 earrings, Steve Madden platform sandals

This post is for the Petite Fashion Challenge #18, hosted by the lovely Amber of Easy Petite Looks. My first PFC! The instructions were to "impress your date." Despite the fact that my boyfriend Pilot and I both share an already over-stuffed closet, I find that it's still fairly easy to wow him.

My vision for this was simple: pretty but edgy, with a large dash of DIY. I merely borrowed one of his dress shirts and tied it around myself to a make a quick but efficient minidress, then topped it off with my favorite slightly oversized moto jacket—as you can see when I'm doing my left hand disappearance trick. I'm always a fan of utilizing menswear into something for yourself (it's also a great conversation starter). Black suede platform sandals and a gorgeous rose gold collar helped tip the scales into total femininity, and the gold/neon pink earrings gave it the subtlest pop of color.

I can't wait to see the other participants in this PFC and I hope you're all having an awesome week so far! x

nothing better

Zara jacket, Guess tank dress, vintage slip, Michael Kors cage heels, Urban Outfitters necklace

As it turned out, it was slightly too warm for this beautiful Zara leather jacket. But oh well, it was too gorgeous not to wear—I truly adore the classic light cognac color and how buttery soft it is. Plus it's quite warm, which is always a good thing for tricky cooler San Francisco temperatures. This I paired with a short white tank dress and my trusty bronze sandals, the latter of which is always a firm favorite because of its sparkle and cage-shape flair.

So I'm about to see The Dark Knight Rises in about t-minus five hours. Midnight showing, yee-yuh! So excited and so many emotions. I'm hoping that all of my geeky comic conspiracy theories come to fruition as well as having my mind blown by the epic storytelling and amazing special effects. I feel like I've been waiting for this movie for so long that I can't believe the day is finally here, how surreal!

Oh, and I made a new Bloglovin (mildly disappointed that renames aren't available for bloggers who are aching for a significant redux). Click this way: Follow my blog with Bloglovin, please and thank you!

genesis

Forever 21 top, Silence & Noise bralette, H&M shorts, Cary Lane necklace, Aldo sandals

Two things of note! One, I am now a redhead (walked in asking for a light ash brown, came out like this, ugh, oh well!) and two, le blog has a new name: Rouge Spark. I've actually been contemplating a change of name for quite some time now. I chose the name because the word "rouge" invoked old fashioned glamour to me and "spark" because I wanted something spunky and snappy. Et voilá, Rouge Spark was born!

I paired a pair of suede shorts with a denim bralette that somehow and wonderfully works with almost everything in my closet. A sheer oversized peach off-shoulder was thrown on top with leather strap studded sandals and I was ready to explore nearby Tiberon, a small town that's too quaint for words. Very light and summery.

So yeah! Two somewhat important things. I'm a ginger and The Petite Style is now Rouge Spark. I'm hoping that the name change won't be too confusing! And to my readers/followers who have been with me since The Petite Style, thank you so much for staying. I really do appreciate you reading and commenting. :) ♥ And just in case you're not yet following, I'm sabbyagogo on Twitter and Rouge Spark on Facebook. I'll figure out the Bloglovin' situation later. Hope you're all having a great Monday so far! x

  1. FOTD/makeup of the day, thanks to my Naked 2 palette.
  2. Pilot on the manliest ride imaginable.
  3. DJ Pilot rocks the place! His insignia on a banner.
  4. Pescadero Beach! Such a gorgeous and serene place.
  5. My baby, Toby, in living color.
  6. Monsieur Pilot.
  7. "TV DOG" is quite possibly the cutest abstract art display I've ever seen!
  8. So excited for Uniqlo coming into the city. So, so excited! (Topshop, it's your turn!)
  9. It seemed like it took forever, but I finally bit the bullet and bought what seems to be most magnificent ankle boots by Rag & Bone! Ever since they came in the post on Saturday, I've been wearing them every single day since. No joke.
  10. Another gpoy/self portrait.
  11. An appropriately inappropriate and outlandish outfit for Gay Pride Weekend's Pink Party in the Castro on a Saturday night.
  12. Perhaps the most recognizable and world reknowned landmark of my beloved city by the bay, the Golden Gate Bridge!

viva la fourth

Forever 21 top & ring, H&M shorts, ring, & bracelets, Silence & Noise bralette, vintage belt, Aldo sandals, Ray-Ban sunnies

My fourth of July had a ton of play, as evident by my simple outfit and sandal combination, perfect for optimal maneuverability and romping around. And of course, color coordination was an absolute must, with the requisite red, white, and (denim) blue. Today consisted of two different BBQs with friends (The first BBQ had an adult bounce house, is that awesome or what?! Click to see Instagram-med snapshots here and here!) and a family dinner (the latter of which I later changed into more appropriate apparel). So all in all, an absolutely fantastic day spent with loved ones, new friends, and lots and lots of delicious food. Happy Independence Day, everyone, or at least, to my fellow Americans! And to my international readers, I hope you had a similarly wonderful day!

let go with you

Zara blouse, Forever 21 shorts & cuff, Steve Madden platform sandals

I think I've already mentioned this countless of times before, but I adore variants on otherwise classic staples... and bonus points if said variants are more on the discreet side. I'm really enjoying the dip-dyed and ombre trend that's not only too prevalent in hair, but in apparel as well. These denim shorts are nothing short of awesome—frayed edges for that great worn in look, with the subtlest gradient of of light blue to white. This was paired with my favorite white blouse: sheer with gold metal tips. Then some platform suede black sandals to give it a classier touch: thus, an elegant balance of the casual and feminine.

Hope you're having a great week so far! State-side people, are you ready for the Fourth of July tomorrow? x
